818,290. Gas-generating compositions. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 18, 1956 [Jan. 27, 1956], No. 2814/56. Class 9(2) A gas-generating composition comprises guanidine nitrate, ammonium nitrate, a water-soluble salt of chromic acid, e.g. ammonium dichromate, and a water-insoluble cupric salt of an organic acid, e.g. cupric oxalate, citrate, or benzoate. The ratio by weight of ammonium nitrate to guanidine nitrate is preferably from 12:85 to 50:50. The amount of cupric salt may be from 0.1 to 4 per cent by weight of the composition. In examples, pellets are made from compositions which contain, in addition to the ingredients specified above, potassium nitrate and china clay.
