Abstract
816,842. Reciprocating pumps for liquids. SBRJANA, A. Oct. 9, 1956, [Oct. 10, 1955; Aug. 9, 1956], No. 30709/56. Class 102(1). [Also in Group XXXIII] A water pump is combined with a propulsion system for watercraft. The system comprises a rod 16 supported under water from the craft and oscillatable about its midpoint 17 to actuate webs 20 on its extremities, the rod being actuated by a handwheel 13 on a shaft 12 secured to the rod at 17. A bell 56 on the floor of the craft and connected through flap valves 57 with the bilge leads to a tubular bellows 55 surrounding the shaft 12. The bellows end in a ring 58 reciprocable on the shaft to draw water from the bilge and deliver it through a valved outlet pipe 60, Alternatively the ring 58 may be secured to the shaft 12 so that oscillation of the handwheel contracts the bellows to effect the pumping.
