Abstract
801,263. Diaphragm pumps. WEBB, G. W., and WEBB, H. M. March 11, 1955 [March 13, 1954], No. 7367/54. Class 102(1). [Also in Group XXIX]. A pump unit for draining boat bilges comprises a stationary member 10 secured by a bracket 11 to the boat, an annular flexible bellows 14 secured to it, inlet and outlet pipes 23 and 24 with associated flap-valves 18 and 20, and a movable plate 27 secured to bellows 14 and carrying a float at the end of rod 30, the float being movable under the action of the waves or rocking of the boat to move the plate 27 in any direction to change the bellows volume and cause pumping action. A spring 34 counter-balances the weight of the movable parts. Specifications 734,294 and 801,264 [Group XXIX] are referred to.
