[Class 102 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXXV and XXXVII] Apparatus for raising sewage comprises a container 1 having a sewage inlet 13 and outlet 2 and a valve 12 for admitting gas under pressure to empty the container. The valve 12 is actuated at the appropriate point of the cycle by an electromagnetic device under the control of a relay 8, 9, 10 operated by switches 7 in two floats 4, 5, one at the top and the other at the bottom of the container. Fig. 4 shows the construction of the upper float in which the float 4 is carried by a flexible tube 4<2> within which is a mercury switch capsule 7. The flexible tube is held by a combined cover and cable stuffing box 6 attached to the side of the container. Specification 524,264 is referred to.
