Abstract

815,196. Firearm butts. SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE - G. m. b. H. June 7, 1957 [June 18, 1956], No. 18170/57. Class 119 A firearm butt 1 consists of resilient material such as rubber and is mounted on the firearm 3 to allow relative movement therewith and so take up part of the recoil. The butt is secured at one end by means of a screw-threaded ring 2 to a part 3 of the breech casing which extends into a bore of the butt and is guided by a sleeve 5. A pin 6 on the sleeve 5 engages a slot 7 in the part 3. A portion of the butt is formed with recesses 10 and ribs 11 and, as shown, is squashed up during recoil, the recoil being further damped by the air cushion between the sleeve 5 and the end 4 of the part 3.
