Abstract
815,078. Regulating switches; controllers. METROPOLITAN-VICKERSJ ELECTRICAL CO. Ltd. Sept. 19, 1957 [Oct. 9, 1956], No. 30758/56. Classes 38 (3) and 38 (5). In a cam-shaft controller having two sets of contactors 8, 8<SP>1</SP> controlled by cams on shafts 16<SP>1</SP>, 211 driven from a pilot motor 30, each contactor is controlled by a cam 22 on shaft 16<SP>1</SP> and a cam 23 on the appropriate shaft 21<SP>1</SP>. These shafts are coupled together so that shafts 211 rotate at three times the speed of shaft 16<SP>1</SP>, the contacts 1, 3 being opened and closed when the cams 22, 23 are in predetermined positions relative to each other and to a lever 12 pivoted at 6 and carrying the moving contacts 3. The contacts are arranged adjacent an arc chute having blow-out coils 10. The motor 30 drives the cam-shafts via gearing 31 and an electromagnetic clutch and brake 32 which is energized when it is desired to connect the continuouslyrotating motor to a Geneva stop-mechanism having contacts 33, 34 which maintain energization of the operating coil of the assembly 32 until a switching movement has been completed. The motor may be an electric motor or a fluid-pressure servomotor.
