814,162. Handle-bars; control mechanism. PIAGGIO & C. S.p.A. Oct. 24, 1957 [Dec. 5, 1956], No. 33284/57. Classes 136(1) and 136(3) In a handle-bar for motor cycles with rotatable hand-grip controls the hand grips 2 form arms which extend as far as the central part 1 of the handle-bar proper, this central part consisting of a tubular collet 3 for connecting the handle-bar to the steering tube and two tapered hubs 4 for supporting the hand-grips. The handgrips 2 carry at their inner ends rockers 6, 7 for pulling the cables which control the throttle and the gear-box. The handgrips rotate about the hub 4 on smooth supports 8 and also on threaded parts 9. The threaded parts prevent the hand-grips from slipping off the hubs 4. A head-light 13 is mounted in a fairing consisting of two shells 14, 15 connected to the central part 1 of the handle-bar at 16, 17. A brake lever 11 and a box 12 for a horn switch are connected by bolts 18 to the fairing. A clutch lever 10 is rotatably mounted in the hand-grip 2. The cables from the levers 10, 11 pass diagonally through the hand-grips, entering and leaving through slots in the hand-grips, and passing together with the flexible cables from the rockers 6, 7 into the half shell 15.
