Abstract
813,901. Transformers. GRESHAM TRANSFORMERS Ltd., and PLANER Ltd., G. V. Aug. 31, 1955 [Sept. 2, 1954], No. 25530/54. Class 38 (2). To hermetically seal electrical apparatus such as a transformer enclosed in a body 11 of flexible cast resin, epoxy resin 10 is placed around the leads 12 where they emerge from the body 11 to reduce risk of leakage along the leads. The epoxy resin may be applied wholly or partly in a depression in the surface of the body 11, Figs. 2, 3 (not shown), or as a layer 17A across the body surface where several leads 12 emerge, Fig. 5. The transformer AT, e.g. an audio frequency transformer may be enclosed in a magnetic screening can C. Suitable flexible resins and epoxy resins are specified. They may contain a filler such as quartz or mica powder. The invention overcomes the result of failure of adhesion between transformer leads and the flexible casting resin used to avoid deleterious effects in the core when pressure is exerted upon changes in temperature.
