812,700. Card clothing. SELLERS & SON Ltd., J., TEMPEST, E., and TEMPEST, G. H. Feb. 14, 1957 [March 23, 1956], No. 9061/56. Classes 120(1) and 120(3) Card clothing for the cylinder or rollers of a carding machine comprises a foundation material m in which are set substantially U-shaped wire teeth with their crowns or heels 1 lying in the direction in which the teeth will travel in normal current practice when the clothing is secured around a cylinder or roller, so that one limb 2 of each tooth will lead the other limb 3. The two limbs may be parallel and of equal length; or limb 3 may be shorter, as shown, or clenched down upon the face of foundation m. One or both limbs may be bent in the plane of the heel, or in other directions. Fig. 9 shows the card clothing mounted on a fancy 6 and engaging normal card clothing teeth 4 on the swift 5; the clothing on the fancy is stated to effect a cleaning operation together with the usual working action of the teeth. The clothing may be used solely for cleaning, being mounted on a driven roller located in proximity to the swift, doffer, worker, stripper or clearer to be cleaned.
