Abstract

812,624. Switching systems for consumption apparatus. C.T. ELECTRICAL CONTROLS Ltd. Nov. 28, 1955 [Feb. 17, 1955], No. 34068/55. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XXXVII] In a domestic supply system a thermallyresponsive switching mechanism (see Group XXXVII) is used to cut off the supply to a load of lesser importance when the current taken by a load of greater importance exceeds a predetermined level. In the three-wire singlephase arrangement shown, when the demand of an electric cooker 131 is sufficient, bimetallic elements indicated at 23 effect the opening of a switch 100 to disconnect the heater 135 a drier'132. The mechanism 10 may also include a circuit-breaker unit (not shown) which is tripped by the bimetallic elements 23 to disconnect the cooker 131 in the event of overload. Alternatively, the mechanism 10 may include further switches 100 arranged for sequential operation so as to disconnect minor loads in turn as the demand of an important load increases.
