Abstract
811,377. Spray-producers. SMITH & CO. (WHITWORTH) Ltd., F. July 11, 1957 [July 12,1956], No. 21544/56. Class 69 (3). A spray unit for a washing machine, primarily for use in the dyeing and bleaching industry, comprises a box A formed with one or more orifices b in its upper surface B, a centre plate D having portions of reduced width to form gaps d<SP>2</SP> mounted to slide over the orifice b and a deflector plate C of greater width than the box and secured to it by bolts c. The centre plate D has slots d, through which the bolts c pass, and is slidable by operating a knob D<SP>1</SP> extending through a slot c<SP>1</SP> in the deflector plate C. The gaps d<SP>2</SP> of the centre plate D allow liquid to emerge from the orifice b, foreign matter loosened by sliding the centre plate D being removed by the emerging spray. The centre plate D and the deflector plate C may be constructed to direct spray to one or both sides of the box A and where a plurality of orifices b is provided the sprays mingle to form a continuous sheet of liquid.
