Abstract
811,067. Knitting-machines. MONK (SUTTON IN ASHFIELD) Ltd., S. A., and MONK, S. A. Aug. 21, 1957 [May 22, 1956], No. 15698/56. Class 74 (2). The horizontal needle bar A of a straight-bar rib machine is carried by arms 3 supported at their inner ends by a vertical slide D which is actuated to effect the pressing action of the needles B of the bar A. The outer ends of the arms C are each provided with a pin K which engages in a slot L of a lever E actuated by a cam H through lever G to effect the usual knitting motions of the needles B. The pins K are normally held at one end of the slots L by catches M pivoted at N to the levers E but in the event of it being desired to withdraw and raise the needles B the catches M are raised to release pins K to permit them to slide along the slots L as the needle bar is withdrawn from beneath the sinkers. Thereafter the needle bar can be raised to an inoperative position by pivoting the arms C upwardly, the pins K turning in the outer end of slot L. Alternatively, the pins may be associated with the levers E and the slots with the arms C, the catches being pivoted to the arms C.
