808,399. Hydrodynamic transmissions. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. Jan. 4, 1957 [Jan. 7, 1956], No. 486/57. Class 69 (2). In a transmission comprising a hydrodynamic coupling or converter and a bypass clutch 22 for directly connecting an input shaft 10 to an output shaft 21, a pump P is driven from the input shaft through step-up gearing 13 and/or a turbine T drives the output shaft through step-up gearing 13a. Thus, despite slip in the coupling, the input and output shaft speeds can be equal immediately prior to the engagement of the clutch 22. A clutch 11 is provided between the input shaft 10 and gearing 13, so that, on disengagement of clutch 11 and engagement of a clutch 23, the pump is directly driven by the shaft 10.
