Class 79(1) [Also in Group XXVI] In a gas turbine locomotive having a driving turbine 3 mounted on a bogie and a compressor (not shown) mounted on the locomotive frame, the supply of compressed air or combustion gases to the turbine and the carrying off of the expanded gases from the turbine are effected in two concentric tubes 2, 6, the axis 1 of which coincides with the vertical axis of rotation of the bogie relative to the locomotive frame. As shown the turbine 3 is Supplied with the combustion gases from the compressor, which may be driven by a Diesel engine, through the tube 2 and a jacket 4. The expanded gases issue from the turbine 3 into a jacket 5 and the tube 6. A housing 7 on the locomotive frame has connections 8, 9 with the tubes 2, 6, piston rings 10, 11 being provided for sealing purposes. A combustion chamber for the driving turbine may be mounted in the bogie.
