Abstract

760,803. Gas turbine plant. LEYLAND MOTORS, Ltd. May 18, 1954 [May 18, 1953], No. 13924/53. Class 110 (3). [Also in Group XIII] A gas turbine 14 is provided with a ring of regenerators in each of which a unit comprising two heat-absorbing matrices 12, 13 is reciprocated so that the matrices are alternately exposed to exhaust gases in a central passage 3 and to air for combustion in one or other of two parallel air passages 1, 2 (see Group XIII). The compressor 15, which may be driven by a separate turbine 10, supplies air to an annular duct 16 connected to the air passages 1, 2 of the regenerators. These air passages lead to a ring of combustion chambers 18. The exhaust gas ducts lead to a gallery 19 connected to an exhaust pipe. The compressor also supplies air to operate pistons 7, 9 at the ends of the matrix units. This supply is controlled by a distributer valve operated by the turbine.
