Abstract
742,270. Supplying fuel to burners. ROLLSROYCE, Ltd. March 26, 1954 [March 27, 1953], No. 8606/53. Class 75(1). [Also in Groups XXVI and XXIX] A.gas turbine engine fuel system in which fuel is supplied from a tank by a booster pump, has has a heat exchange device in which the fuel is heated by air bled from the engine located in the fuel tank. Fuel from a tank 14 is supplied by a booster pump 15 to the main engine driven fuel pump 16. The pump 15 is driven by a turbine supplied with compressed air taken from the discharge 21 of the gas turbine air compressor 10 through a pipeline 22. A branch connection 22A from the pipeline 22 leads to an airconducting matrix 23 of a heat exchange device located in the fuel tank. A valve 25 controls the air flow in the connection 22A. In a modification, the exhaust air from the matrix 23 is led to the turbine 18 and a control valve is arranged at the junction of the conduits 22, 22A, to vary the flow through the matrix and the by-pass.
