Class 44 A combined latch means and door fasteners for hinge supported door structures having a pair of door members 13, 14 connected for relative swinging movement by a hinge member 21 or 22 and pivotally connected hinge leaves 23, 24 fixed, respectively, to said door members is characterized by a keeper engaging member C integral with the hinged leaf 24, a keeper member D having a laterally opening pocket 48 within which the member C is engageable to force the door member 14 open and closed, a sliding latch element B mounted on the hinged leaf 23 and a co-operating catch element for said latch element on the keeper member. Each hinge leaf has a plurality of eye members connected together by a pin 27 and the member C is formed integral with the lowermost eye member 26, it consists of a radial arm 28 having a crank pin 29 at its outer end which is engageable with the pocket 48 of keeper member D so that when the door member 14 is swung inwardly towards closed position the pin 29 engages the pocket 48 and cams the door member 13 closed. The latch element comprises a head 35 of substantially square cross-section which fits within a sleeve 30 and which is urged to its engaging position by a spring 38. The weight of the head 35 is sufficient however in case of spring failure to work by gravity. The lower end of the head 35 is bevelled to present an upwardly inclined underneath surface 39 so that when the door member 13 is moved to closed position the surface 39 engages a cam face 54 on the catch element to retract the head; after the head clears the face 54 it is projected into a passage 52 by gravity or the spring 38 and must be manually lifted to clear a wall 53 before the door member 13 can be opened more than a limited extent.
