Abstract

807,266. Bolts; key locks. TELEMECANIQUE ELECTRIQUE. Feb. 23, 1955 [April 16, 1954], No. 5500/55. Class 44 [Also in Group XXXVII] In a switchgear structure (see Group XXXVII) having a withdrawable carriage 1 in a compartment with a door 27, the initial withdrawal of the carriage is effected by a rotatable handle 17 on the door through a part helical member which imparts a longitudinal motion to the carriage when the handle is turned, a door bolt 25 being withdrawn during the last part of the rotation of the handle. In the arrangement shown, when the handle 17 is turned in the direction of the arrow F, a fork composed of members 13, 14 embraces a rod 12 secured to the front of the carriage 1 and as the fork moves along the part helical portion 12a of the rod it partly withdraws the carriage. As the handle approaches the end of its travel, a pin 21 on a member 19 cooperates with cam surfaces on a member 31 secured to the bolt 25 and the bolt is withdrawn against the bias of a spring 29. At the end of the movement of the handle, the fork is disengaged from the rod 12 and on opening the door 27, the handle and bolt are locked against return motion by a tooth 19a on the member 19 abutting a tooth 37 on a lever 32, the lever being moved into a position in which this abutment can occur by a spring 35 when the end 32a of the lever is movd away from the door jam. On the withdrawal of the bolt, a latch member 42 is moved into a position behind a member 88 (now at position 88a, Fig. 5) to prevent the carriage being pushed back when the door is open. To open the door 27 without withdrawing the carriage, a member 48 is turned by a key in a barrel lock to withdraw the bolt 25. In this case, the latch member 42 is moved in front of a member 89 to prevent the withdrawal of the carriage when the door is opened. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the withdrawal of the carriage may be effected by the axial movement of the shaft on which the handle is fixed, the axial movement being caused by a pin fixed to the shaft moving along a part helical slot in a fixed bearing. The arrangement of the various locking members is generally that described above.
