806,770. Automatic control systems for crane bridges. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTBISKA A.B. March 20, 1957 [March 23, 1956], No. 9087/57. Class 38 (4). [Also in Groups XXX and XXXI] The speeds of the driving wheels of a bridge crane are varied, to correct misalignment with the track, under the control of a device which measures the lateral movement of a point near the front of the bridge. As illustrated a pair of discs 32 (Fig. 3) guided by one of the track rails 20 for a bridge crane, or by a separate guide rail, is connected by a rod 33 to control two rheostats 27a, 27b. The rhostats may control separate motors for the driving wheels at opposite ends of the bridge. Alternatively a single motor 9 (Fig. 1) may drive both driving wheels 6 while a correcting motor 17 is connected by a differential 16 to one of the driving wheels. A device 19a, 19b, detecting the misalignment of the bridge is provided for each direction of travel and may be switched in by the controller for the driving motor of the crane. Rollers 12 engage the sides of the rails 20 to prevent derailment should the system fail.
