828,038. Slipways. HOESCH WERKE A. G., and BERG-UND HUTTENBETRIEBE A. G. FUR. Feb. 28, 1958 [April 27, 1957], No. 6581/58. Class 68(2) A slipway comprises a pair of rails 3 on which run a carriage 2 which has wheels 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16. At the upper end the slipway is crossed by a second rail track 10 on which run the units 8 and 9 of a tipping apparatus which receives load containers 1 from the carriage 2. The rails 3 are continuous at the intersection with the sea-ward rail of the track 10 but are interrupted at the other rail and the wheels 12 and 15 at one side of the carriage and 13 and 16 at the other side co-operate to bridge the resultant gap. The section 17 of track 10 is movable on a trolley 18 which is pushed ahead by the carriage 2 as it approaches the top of the slipway and is left in its operative position as the carriage runs down the slipway.
