Abstract

1,098,742. Track positioning apparatus. F. PLASSER. March 15, 1965 [March 16, 1964], No. 10782/65. Addition to 973,434. Heading B7N. [Also in Division G1] A mobile track positioning apparatus of the kind disclosed in Specification 973,434 which includes means for setting the increasing degree of superelevation required during a transition from straight to curved track is modified by the inclusion of a cross-level indicating device which is continuously adjusted by an odometer as the apparatus moves into a curve. Pendulum 3 responsive to the cross-level of the track at the position being corrected includes a switch contact 9 which can co-operate with one or other contacts 11, 13 to bring the track lifters associated with the left- or right-hand rails into operation. The track lifter control circuits are opened when the pendulum contact assumes a neutral position between contacts 11, 13. The contacts 11, 13 are moved to the left or right, in dependence on which rail forms the outer rail of the curve, under the control of an odometer 14 whereby the degree of superelevation is continuously changed as the apparatus moves forward into the curve.
