Abstract

753,519. Clinometers. DROUARD, J., and BOULARD, G. Nov. 9, 1953 [Nov. 25, 1952], No. 30898/53. Class 97 (2). [Also in Group XXX] A trolley used in securing a straight line inclination of a railway track between two points, and carrying a target which is viewed from an optical sighting device at the ahead point, the trolley being fitted with rail gripping means and hoisting means remotely controlled from the ahead point whereby the rail can be raised at successive points to bring all intermediate points into line by an operator viewing the target through the sighting device (see Group XXX). The trolley itself, or an independent trolley is provided with means to show the cant (superelevation) of the track. Thus as shown, the trolley 11 carries a target 49 mounted on a rod 48 which is pivoted at 54 for transverse movement relative to the trolley and counterweighted so as always to be disposed vertically so that it moves relatively to a rod 55 fixedly mounted on the trolley whereby the cant is shown on a scale 56 which is viewed by the operator through the sighting device who can therefore appropriately control the hoisting means for the two rails of the track so as to obtain the desired cant.
