Abstract

386,390. Rail gauges ; pendulumtype. WILLIAMS, D. D. and WILLIAMS, Ltd., H., Railway Appliances Works, Darlington. Nov. 16, 1931, No. 31613. [Class 106 (ii).] A super-elevation gauge mounted on a trolley which is pushed along a railway track comprises two pendulum members g<1>, g<2> connected to a central member g pivoted at f, the deflection of the pendulum being indicated by a pointer h operated from the member g through a quadrant i and pinion i<1>. One of the trolley wheels b is slidably mounted and maintained in contact with the rail by a spring l, thus forming a track gauge, the width between the rails being indicated by a pointer m. The dip at a rail joint is indicated by a pointer s operated by the vertical support p of a roller o pressed into contact with the rail surface by a spring q. The roller o is situated midway between two longitudinal trolley wheels c.
