Abstract
245,869. Never-Stop Transit, Ltd., Adkins, B. R., and Lewis, W. Y. Oct. 24, 1924. Systems.-A vehicle for use on inclined tracks comprises a chassis A, Fig. 1. having a body B mounted to turn on one or more transverse axes A', and one or more pairs of rollers J, J<1> on the body are adapted to co-operate with an auxiliary track E adjacent to the main track D to rock the body about the transverse axis or axes and thus maintain the body substantially horizontal whatever the direction of travel or inclination of the gradient. The rollers J, J<1> are mounted on a spindle F connected to the body of the vehicle and are pressed against the top and bottom of the guide rail E by springs. When the vehicle is used with two parallel tracks connected at their ends by a semi-circular track, the auxiliary track is dispensed with on the end curves and the body is prevented from rocking about its transverse axis A<1> by brackets T, Fig. 3, on the body which come into engagement with arms U on the chassis as the bogies turn about their pivots.
