Abstract
1,005,190. Correcting curves of railway tracks. F. PLASSER, [trading as FRANZ PLASSER BAHNBAUMASCHINEN]. Sept. 28, 1961 [Dec.15, 1960], No. 34919/61. Heading S1F. In a method of aligning railway tracks, particularly curved sections thereof, the desired position of individual points along the track is ascertained and the difference between them and the actual positions of the track is noted e.g. on the web of the rail. Assuming that the track G, Fig. 3, has been corrected up to and including the region 1, 2, 3, a tensioned wire S 2 , or other means representing a straight reference line such as a sighting line or beam of light or high frequency waves, is set up extending from point 2 into the uncorrected. region of track and is displaced laterally from actual track position 4 to the desired position 4<SP>1</SP>. As a track aligning machine is moved from point 3 towards point 4, the track is corrected with reference to line S 2 . This is done by arranging a wire or other control line S 1 extending between points 1 and 3 and moving bath along until point 1 is at 2 and 3 at 4, the track being moved so that chord distance 2A gradually changes to a value equal to 3C. However to avoid a variable value of distance 2A the control wire may be arranged as S 0 with end at 3<SP>1</SP> suitably displaced from point 3 so that distance 2B is constant and distance 33<SP>1</SP> gradually changes to distance 44<SP>1</SP> as the ends of control wire So which were at points 1, 3, approach points 2, 4. Suitable apparatus is shewn in Fig. 4, wherein the reference wire 13 extends between a fixed anchorage on rear truck 19 and a laterally adjustable anchorage on forward truck 17. The control wire 14 extends between a fixed anchorage on rear truck 20 and an anchorage 15 on the track aligning machine 10 which is so adjusted by a transmission 16 connected to the wheels of the machine 10 that as members 10, 20, move along the track G the supervisory element 23 engaging wire 14 is a constant distance along support 22 on truck 19 when the track is correctly aligned. Element 23 may have an electrical contact engaging a fixed contact on support 22 to stop the aligning tools 11 on machine 10 at the correct position. The adjustment of the projecting end of arm 12 to contact wire 13 may be used for bringing the transmission 16 for the adjustment of anchorage 15 to the correct initial position.
