985,527. Correcting the position of railway tracks. F. PLASSER, [trading as FRANZ PLASSER BAHNBAUMASCHINEN]. March 2, 1962 [March 15, 1961], No. 8208/62. Heading B7N. [Also in Division G1] In an arrangement for correcting the longitudinal level of railway tracks in which a pair of wires extend forwardly, parallel to the desired position of the track, from a position in a corrected part of the track to a position in the uncorrected portion of the track, the forward ends of the wires are supported on a wheeled chassis and automatic means are provided for adjusting the height of one of the wire supports in dependance on its height with respect to the other support. The height of holding pulley 6, supporting wire 7, is initially adjusted manually by hand wheel 23 to the most advantageous position for correcting several sections of track. Thereafter the height of holding pulley 6<SP>1</SP>, supporting wire 7<SP>1</SP>, with respect to pulley 6 is detected by cross support 5 and a pendulum clinometer 8 which, if a difference exists, controls the operation of a relay 11 to one or other of its energized positions in dependance on which contact 10<SP>1</SP> or 10 is encountered by the pendulum 9. A motor 7, connected to pulley 6<SP>1</SP> via couplings 18, 19, screwed shaft 20<SP>1</SP> and cooperating nut 21 is controlled via the relay contacts to raise or lower the height of the pulley and bring the ends of the wires into the same horizontal plane. The Specification states that where the track is curved and superelevation is required the pulley heights can be controlled to a specific transverse inclination.
