Abstract

1411447 Portable railway track; switches; crossings SWEDISH RAIL SYSTEM AB SRS 18 Dec 1972 [23 Dec 1971] 58323/72 Heading E1G A railway switch, suitable for the portable track of cranes having double-flanged wheels, connects a main track 1 with first or second branch tracks 2, 3 one of which may be straight, and comprises a pair of straight switch blades 1b which are shorter than the track gauge and are movably located on sleepers 1c at the ends of the main track rails for alignment selectively with the laterallyspaced ends of the rails 2b, 3b of the two branch tracks. As shown each blade 1b is swingable about a vertical pivot on a sleeper block 1c which carries short fixed rail lengths 2d, 3d which are aligned with the rails 2b, 3b and which carry longitudinally-movable fish plates 6 for securing the blades 1b in the selected position. The two switch blades may be cross-linked for lever actuation. Crossings. At the crossing 5 a straight rail length 5b can be swung about a central vertical pivot to conform with the route selected. Portable track. Each track comprises a pair of rails mounted on pot sleeper blocks connected for gauge adjustment by ties such as 7. The curved track section 2 may be reversed to provide a left hand turnout. In a modification, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown) adjacent portions of the rails 2b, 3b share the same sleeper blocks and are laterally adjustable thereon.
