806,190. Resistors. CORNING GLASS WORKS. Sept. 25, 1956 [Sept. 30, 1955], No. 29288/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 37. [Also in Group XXIII] An electrical resistor of the metal oxide film type has a glass body free from alkali metal ions. The body may be made of an alumina silicate glass containing alkaline earth metal oxides and having a linear temperature coefficient of expansion of 30-60 Î 10<SP>-7</SP> per degree C. The resistance film may be a metal oxide film composed of tin oxide and up to 6 per cent antimony oxide and having a resistance of 20-10,000 ohms per unit square. The resistance film may be covered by a protective coating, such as a fused ceramic, also free from alkali metal ions. The terminals may be formed on the protective coating if it is a metal oxide film which should have a resistance of 200 ohms to 10 megohms per unit square, the resistance being at least 10 times that of the first film.
