Abstract
1334821 Vitreous enamel WELWYN ELECTRIC Ltd 28 Jan 1972 [10 March 1971] 4153/72 Heading C1M A vitreous enamel substantially devoid of lead in the free or combined form comprises in weight per cent SiO 2 28-50; B 2 O 3 19-30; Na 2 O and/or K 2 O 0-11; ZnO and/or CdO 13-30; CaO and/or Al 2 O 3 4-10. Other ingredients such as Cr 2 O 3 and CoO may be included to act as pigments or adhesion improvers. The composition is such that the enamel has a fusion temperature in the range 500 to 1000‹ C. and an expansion coefficient in the range 4 to 7À5 x 10<SP>-6</SP> per ‹ C. measured over a temperature range of 100‹ to 300‹ C. The enamel is used to coat a wire-wound resistor on a ceramic former.
