Abstract
1278411 Resistance composition JOHNSON MATTHEY & CO Ltd 6 June 1969 [11 March 1968] 11863/68 Addition to 1210493 Heading C1M [Also in Division H5] An electric resistance heater element comprises a high temperature resistant non-conducting substrate and a layer of resistor composition as claimed in Specification 1210493, i.e. a composition comprising 91-20 wt. per cent finely divided glass; 9-80% of finely divided product formed by heating RuO 2 and one or more Group V metal oxides; the balance, if any, being compatible constituents. Nb 2 O 5 is the preferred oxide. Also, as in 1,210,493, part of the RuO 2 oxide is replaceable by Ag or an oxide thereof when there is more than 50%; 9% still being the minimum of the mixed RuO 2 oxide. The substrate may be high alumina ceramic, alumina, silica porcelain, aluminous porcelain, glass or mica, and may be in the shape of a grid or cylinder. The resistor composition may be applied by screen printing, spraying, dipping or off-set printing, and may be fired at, e.g., 560- 1000‹ C.
