Abstract
805,316. Electrodepositing bright metals. RIEDEL, A., and BUCHMANN, F., [trading as RIEDEL & CO.]. Aug. 24, 1956, No. 26027/56. Class 41. Bright adherent ductile metal platings are produced by electrolysis from baths containing, in addition to an acid, e.g. sulphuric, fluoboric or boric acid, and a salt of the metal to be deposited, one or more sulphonated quaternary ammonium compounds such as lauryl sulphopyridinium chloride, sulphobutyl pyridinium chloride and dimethyl sulphophenyl sulphobenzyl ammonium chloride. Wetting agents such as sodium decyl sulphate and sodium mbenzene disulphonate may be included in the bath. In examples the baths disclosed are sulphate copper, Watts nickel, and zinc sulphate buffered with aluminium sulphate and containing sodium chloride for anode dissolution.
