805,097. Parachute packs. MINISTER OF SUPPLY. Dec. 14, 1956 [Nov. 10, 1955], No. 32164/55. Class 4. In a parachute pack 12 to house a parachute 18, means such as a separate pocket 63 is provided to house the free loops 19 of the rigging lines, where they pass over the crown vent to ensure that the lines do not foul and damage the canopy when it is withdrawn from the pack 12 by a dropped load. The looped lines 19 are attached to a connecting link 20 secured by a frangible connection 21 to a strop 16 and these elements also are housed within the pocket 63 and retained therein by an elastic rim 65. The pocket is stitched at 15 to the strop 16 which passes through an opening in the pack 12 for attachment to a static line 22. In a further embodiment the pocket 63 is formed as a long sleeve to extend from stitching 15 down to the crown of the parachute and in other embodiments a separate pocket is formed in the pack by a transverse panel or the loops may be housed in one section of a double compartment pocket with the link 20 in the other compartment.
