Abstract

1279261 Parachute GQ PARACHUTE CO Ltd 30 Sept 1970 [4 Nov 1969] 53936/69 Heading B7G A parachute is provided with a static line comprising a first part 12 for connecting to an aircraft and a second part 23 connected to the parachute canopy 21, the two parts being connected by a frangible tie 29. The line 23 is connected to parachute pack 11 by a strap 30 and passes through loops 22 attached to the apex of the canopy. An inspection slot or flap may be provided in the pack so that the tie 29 can be examined after assembly. In use the parachute is dragged from the pack by the weight of the load; when the apex bgeins to move tie 29 is broken and straps 24 and 25 are pulled through loops 16 and 17 so that the line 12 remains attached to the aircraft while the remainder, including the pack, remains with the parachute. The lines may be made from webbing, and the loops may have elastic inserts (34), Fig. 2 (not shown).
