Abstract
1,149,713. Parachutes. G. Q. PAKACHUTE CO. Ltd. 18 Jan., 1968 [28 Jan., 1967], No. 4326/67. Heading B7G. A parachute has a canopy 11, rigging lines 12 connecting the canopy to a load 15 and reefing equipment 23 which is activated to de-reef the parachute by the apex of the canopy moving from a depressed state towards an inflated position. This may be done by connections 16, 20 from the apex of the canopy withdrawing pins 21 from the reefing equipment 23 to either break or release loops in a cord 22 which has held the canopy reefed. The load 15 may be drawn out of an aircraft by the reefed parachute, either when the load leaves the aircraft, or afterwards after a time delay or by using a static line from the aircraft, a hook 24 on the load releasing a ring 17 on the connection 16 depressing the apex of the canopy. The reefing equipment 23 may incorporate a device which delays dereefing until either the end of the time delay or alternatively when a barometric device has functioned.
