Abstract
805,030. Jaw crushers. BOURNE, R. F., and CHEYNE, D. G. Sept. 3, 1957 [Sept. 5. 1956], No. 27824/57. Class 59 A jaw crusher has both its jaws movable relatively to each other, one jaw being caused, at one end thereof, to describe a substantially circular or elliptical path and at the other end thereof a substantially linear or arcuate path, and the other jaw being subjected to similar motions but at reverse ends. As shown, the upper end of a jaw 1 and the lower end of a jaw 2 are directly coupled respectively to eccentrics 5, 12 mounted on driven shafts 6, 13 while the lower end of the jaw 1 and the upper end of the jaw 2 are respectively constrained by means of links 8, 15 pivotally connected to the jaws and to the crusher casing 3. At least one of the shafts 6, 13 is driven by a prime mover and the shafts are coupled for synchronous movements of the jaws in the same or opposite sense For example, the shafts may be coupled by a gear train 18, 19, 20 or provided with sprockets 21, 22 connected by a chain drive 23: alternatively, the shafts may each be driven by a prime mover and coupled by a crank and connecting rod arrangement One or both shafts may be provided with a flywheel to compensate for shocks. The jaws or the liners 36 thereof may be adjustable towards or away from each other; alternatively, the liners may be replaced by liners of different thicknesses. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the links instead of being pivoted to the jaws and to the casing are seated in appropriate seatings in the two parts and held in position by means of an adjustable spring- infiuenced hook member. In another modification, Fig. 7 (not shown) the jaws are horizontally disposed.
