804,461. Oven doors. PARKINSON & COWAN, Ltd. May 20, 1955 [May 20, 1954], No. 14796/54. Class 126 A seal for an oven door comprises a tubular sleeve of flexible, resilient, heatresisting material held in a shallow groove in the door or door frame by a member passing through the bore of the seal which is compressed when the door is closed. A tube 15 of glass fibre, which may be packed with further glass fibres, is held in a groove 14 in an oven door by a wire 16 which emerges from the interior of the tubular seal and passes round a barrel 19 mounted inside the door. The ends of the wire 16 are secured in diametral slots in the barrel 19 which is turned by a key fitting a squared end to tighten the wire 16 and secure the seal 15. A pin 25 passing through corresponding holes in a collar 23 and bracket 21 secures the barrel when the seal is fixed. The rectangular door and the corresponding opening may have bowed sides and rounded corners. In a modification, a tubular glass fibre seal 30, Fig. 8, is held in position round a door frame by a stiff rod frame 33. In this case, one side of the groove receiving the seal 30 is formed by a sheet metal channel member 35 secured to an angle member forming part of the oven chassis.
