Abstract

[Also in Division F2] A door closing device for attaching a swing door to a frame comprises an outer cylinder 5 attached to the door by a flange 8 and carrying inside it an inner cylinder 10 so that a space 11 exists between the two cylinders. A shaft 4 is disposed in the inner cylinder and is attached at its upper end to a bearing 6 which is attached to the door frame by a flange 40. Two coil springs 18 and 19 are disposed in the space between the cylinders 5 and 10, one end of each spring being fixed to the inner cylinder and the other ends being free to slide in a longitudinal groove in the inner surface of the outer cylinder. The coil spring 18 urges the door to a closed position and has a greater effect than the coil spring 19 which urges the door to an open position.
