Abstract

885,842. Joint-making packing. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. April 10, 1959 [April 10, 1958], No. 11331/58. Class 122 (3). [Also in Group XI] To prevent unravelling the free ends 18 of an oven door gasket 11 formed of a length of material of interwoven fibres of glass or other heat-resisting material are covered with a sleeve of deformable heat-resisting material. The gasket 11 may be a tube woven from glass fibre and the cover member, which fits tightly on the gasket, is preferably of silicone rubber and may be in the form of a sleeve 19 to cover two abutting ends 18 or a thimble 20 to cover a single free end 18. The gasket is secured to a recess 12 in the oven door 13 by fastenings 15 having their heads disposed in the tube interior and co-operates with a raised portion 14 of the oven frame 22.
