Abstract
804,330. Centrifugal separators. CONSTRUCTIONS GUTNAKD. July 23, 1956, No. 22779/56. Class 23 In apparatus, for separating solids from liquid, comprising inner and outer drums 5, 18, and a screw conveyer 8 mounted on the inner drum, apertures 14 are provided in the inner drum for the discharge of the separated liquid from the annulus between the drums. The solids and liquid mixture passes from an inlet 3 through an accelerator 6 to the annulus. The separated solids are washed by liquid supplied by a pipe 30 and passing through holes 35 into the annulus. The washed solids are discharged through apertures 11 into a chamber 12. The separated liquid flows through the inner drum and through passages 19 to a rotary chamber 20, a stationary skimming device 21 being located in the chamber 20 for the discharge of liquid from the apparatus. The outer drum is directly driven by a pulley 27, and the inner drum is driven by sun and planet gearing 23, a pulley 28 being provided for varying the relative speeds of the drums. The drums may be wholly conical.
