Abstract
802,301. Electric motors. CHEMPUMP CORPORATION. Oct. 5, 1956, No. 30489/56. Class 35. [Also in Group XXVI] The stator and rotor of a pump motor are in separate compartments and the rotor, which has a corrosion resistant sheath, is on a sleeve secured to a hollow shaft carrying the impellor at one end and transmitting pumped fluid to cool the rotor and lubricate the bearings disposed one at each end of the rotor. As shown, the rotor 46 is on a sleeve 49 pinned to the hollow shaft 53 and has a corrosion-resistant enclosure 47, 48 over which flows some of the liquid being pumped, this coolant flowing through passages 55a, 57 in bearings 55 and returns from the left-hand bearing to the impellor through the hollow shaft. The stator enclosure is rendered fluid-tight by sleeve 15 of anti-corrosion material welded to coverings 17, 20 of similar material on the end covers 11, 12, respectively. The impellor housing 3 may be of stainless steel or titanium.
