Abstract

801,919. Equipment racks. AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE & ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. May 25, 1957, No. 16650/57. Class 37. [Also in Group XIV] An electrical equipment rack is provided with a face cover comprising a plurality of flat transparent cover-plates such as 16 arranged for mounting one above the other and provided with interlocking rebates along the upper and lower edges, each cover-plate having at each of its lower corners a lock 24 and pivot pin 26 to enable it to be locked against inwardly extending flanges 14 of the walls 10, 11 of the rack, the rebated lower edge of each plate retaining the plate immediately below in position. The folded steel side walls 10, 11 are separated by channel members 12 and angle members 13. A steel guard rail 20 attached to the front edges of the walls 10, 11 carries a channel 22 which supports a metal or transparent stepped cover-plate 23. Each cover-plate 16 is attached to a pair of members 28 secured to the inside of the side walls 10, 11 by passing pivot pins 26 through openings in the members 28 and locating them in horizontal slots 30. The coverplates 16 which may be of material known under the Registered Trade Mark " Perspex " are retained by the tongues 27 of the locks 24 being thrust into recesses 35 by coin-operated screws 38. When opened, cover-plates 16 may be either supported by the pivot pins 26 engaging vertical slots 31 or may be hung inverted by projections 32 engaging those on any closed cover-plate. The top of the upper cover-plate is retained by cranked brackets 36, 37. Racks may be arranged in parallel rows facing each other, tubular lamps 33, 34 being provided for internal and general lighting.
