Class 44 A door catch of the kind in which the door can be opened merely by pulling, comprises a latch member formed in two parts 16, 17 mounted for pivotal move ment about an axis parallel to the axis about which the door is hinged, spring means 22 being provided for biasing the two parts away from one another so that, when the door is open, the part 16 projects from a recess in the door 12 or door-post 25 and, when the door is closed, the part 17 projects into and engages a recess in the door-post or door. In the example shown in the drawings, the latch parts 16, 17 are amounted on a pivot 15 extending across a housing 10 let into one edge of the door. When the door is closed the latch part 17 engages in an opening 26 in the door-post 25 and the part 16 is biased by a coil spring 22 surrounding the pin 15 into frictional engagement with a striker plate 27 on the door-post 25. The latch parts 16, 17 are substantially quadrant shape in plan and are cut away to provide for each quadrant a pair of projecting ribs 20, 21 provided with apertures for the pin 15. A leaf spring 28 biases the part 16 in a counter-clockwise direction to the position shown in Fig. 1, while a stop 29 limits the counter - clockwise movement of the latch parts 16, 17.
