602,671. Door latches. PEDERSEN, J. B. M. Nov. 8, 1945, No. 29804. Convention date, April 11, 1944. [Class 44] In a door latch of the type having a bolt 3 slidably or pivotally mounted in a casing and operated by a pivoted handle 11 mounted on the casing and engaging the bolt through an opening 8 in the cover plate 2, the handle pivots 12 are disposed in closed guides 14 on cover-plate and situated on opposite sides of the opening 8. The guides 14 which may be formed in projections 13 are open at their lower ends and the pivots are inserted as the handle is passed through the opening 8. The pivots 12 are retained in the guides in one embodiment by pins 15 on the base plate 1 of the casing. In another form shown in Fig. 4 the closed ends 16 of the grooves 14 are inclined and the pivot end of the handle portion is shaped to co-operate with the cover plate 2 to prevent movement of the pivots away from the closed ends of the guides.
