801,785. Knitting-machines. MELLOR BROMLEY & CO., Ltd. Nov. 28, 1956 [Sept. 27, 1955], No. 27476/55. Drawings to Specification. Class 74 (2). A circular knitting-machine in which more than one yarn is fed at a single feeder has a stop motion switch associated with each yarn and the switches are connected in series in the stop motion circuit. This arrangement avoids operation of the stop motion unless each switch is closed resulting from an abnormal condition arising during the feeding of one or more yarns and permits yarn changes to be made without operating the stop motion. The switches may be in the form of wheels rotated by the running yarns so as to cause balls enclosed in slots in the wheel to be urged under centrifugal force out of contact with a ring connected to a lead of an electrical circuit. Upon undue slackness or failure of a yarn which is being fed to the needles, the wheel slows down or stops such that the balls drop on to the ring and complete the circuit to effect stoppage of the machine. Alternatively, droppers may be used for the switches. Specification 795,687 is referred to.
