Abstract
801,258. Vibratory mechanism. CHICAGO PNEUMATIC TOOL CO. Feb. 23, 1956 [May 9, 1955], No. 5619/56. Class 80 (4). [Also in Groups XXII and XXX] A vibrator particularly for loosening a core box 31, Fig. 2, from a mould comprises a pneumatic eccentric-rotor vibrator unit 12, pneumatic clamping jaws 19, 29, whereby the vibrator is clamped to a rib on the top of the core box, and a three-position hand-operated valve 52 controlling both the unit 12 and the clamp 19-29. The jaw 29 is carried by the hollow piston-rod of a spring-loaded piston 22 slidable in a cylinder 18 integral with the jaw 19 and with a bracket carrying the vibrator unit 12. The valve 52, Fig. 3, has a flat portion coacting with a spring-loaded valve 41 seating on a rubber ring on a bushing so that as the valve 52 is rotated from the " off " position shown to the " clamp on " position, Fig. 5, the valve 41 is opened to admit air from an inlet 34 through holes in the bushing to a recess from which extends a passage 47. The passage 47 is connected by a hose 49, Fig. 2, to a port 51 in the cylinder 18 so that the piston 22 and jaw 29 are moved to clamp the vibrator to the core box. When the valve 52 is turned to its third position, Fig. 6 (not shown), the clamping pressure is maintained, and additionally a passage 59, Fig. 5, connects passage 47 with a passage 60 leading through a hose 62, Fig. 3, and pressure regulator 63 to the vibrator unit 12, which is thus rendered operative. The valve 52 is held in its operative positions by a spring-loaded ball 66 engaging detents therein, and its angular movement is limited by two lugs 58, Fig. 2, coacting with a lug on the valve. In the " off " position the passage 59, Fig. 5, registers with a vent 67, to vent the cylinder 18. With the valve in the " clamp on " position (Fig. 5) the core box may be removed by a hoist cable on hooks 68.
