Abstract
801,566. Clamps. SAFETY AUTOMATIC FIRE ESCAPES, Ltd., and LONGWORTH, R. Nov. 1, 1956 [Nov. 4, 1955], No. 31519/55. Class 44 A suspension or interlocking device for the nozzle of a water hose comprises a hinged annular clamp adapted to be secured to the body of a water valve and means movable by the handle of the valve into a locking position holding the clamp closed when the valve is closed, the clamp being adapted to receive and support the nozzle in a stored position. As shown, a flanged disc 6 is mounted on a valve spindle 8 to be movable towards or away from one part 1 of a hinged clamp as a valve handle 9 is rotated to respectively, close or open the valve. The other part 2 of the clamp is formed or provided with a base member 4 which is seated over and is secured to, a gland nut of the valve. In a modification, the disc 6 may be formed integrally with the handle 9. In another arrangement. Fig. 2 (not shown), the clamp parts are spring-biased to the open position and an arm extending from the part 1 terminates in a ring which engages over the valve spindle beneath the operating handle and which is operative to close the clamp as the valve handle is turned to the valve-closed position.
