Abstract

361,802. Fire - hydrants ; valveactuating mechanism. DIXON & SON, Ltd., S. and DIXON, C., 20, Swinegate, Leeds. April 17, 1931, No. 11367. [Classes 69 (i) and 135.] The hose nozzle of a fire-hydrant is adapted to serve as a turn-key mounted on or connected to the valve so that it cannot be removed without turning on the valve. A socket member 2 of the nozzle 1 rests upon the valve spindle 3 carrying a housing 5 ; in the fully-open position of the valve a projection 7 on the member 2 may pass through an opening in the housing, the " on " and " off " positions being determined by means of projections 9 thereon. Other appropriate means may be substituted for the pin and bayonet-slot mechanism.
