Abstract

375,546. Hose reels. NORSEN SYNDICATE, Ltd., 90, Pilgrim Street, Newcastle-on-Tyne, and NICHOLSON, J., 5, Oakdale Terrace, Chester-le-Street, Co. Durham. June 23, 1931, No. 18192. [Class 99 (ii).] A fire-hose reel a is rotatably mounted on a pair of horizontal arms c bolted to flanges d<1> on a saddle or yoke d which is itself rotatably mounted on a water supply pipe e by means of an integral socket d<3> adapted to receive the upper end of the said supply pipe. The yoke d and one or both of the arms c are hollow so that water may pass from the pipe e to the hollow axle b of the reel and thence to the inner end of the hose j. A control valve may be fitted in the water supply pipe ; alternatively the axle b is provided with a valve operated automatically by rotation of the reel. The arrangement is completed by a wall bracket f having projecting bearings f<1> for the pipe e and also for a plug g closing the upper end of the socket d<3>.
