Abstract
411,253. Vacuum cleaning-apparatus. AINSLEY, H., Holmrook, Southwick Road, Blackheath, Staffordshire. March 11, 1933, No. 7428. [Class 8 (i).] A building, such as a dwelling house, is provided with concealed pipes 14, 15 to which the inlet of a pump 11 is connected, the pump exhausting to the exterior at 12. The pipes 15 terminate in points 16, each of which is closed by a pivoted cap 20 pressed by a spring 22 to retain a leather packing 23 ; alternatively a cap secured by screw-thread or by bayonet joint may be used. A cock may be provided at each point, and where the pump is electrically driven, remote control switches 24 are provided. The cleaning-apparatus comprises a suctionapplying mouth 17, provided with a flexible hose, the end 19 of which makes a push-fit with the point 16 ; it may alternatively be connected by swivel nut or bayonet joint. The pump unit 11 is rotatably mounted so that its outlet can be connected to the pipes 14, 15 to blow air to the points 16. Filtering means are preferably incorporated in the pump.
