Abstract

943,416. Hose reels. CHARLES WINN & CO. Ltd. Sept. 25, 1961 [July 13, 1960], No. 24361/60. Heading B8M. A hose reel 10 intended for mounting in a recess, alcove or equivalent position is combined with a guide which is movable automatically into an operative position when a pull is applied to the hose, the guide remaining in the operative position until it is manually returned to a position where the guide lies adjacent to a wall on which the reel is mounted after the hose has been rewound on the drum. As shown, the guide is in the form of a ring 19 mounted on an arm 18 having a sleeve 21 which is rotatable about the hose supply pipe 15 on a collar 23. The sleeve 21 is provided with a downwardly projecting peg which contacts a cam face on the collar 23, Fig. 6. Normally, the peg lies in the recess 25, but when a pull is applied to the hose the peg rides up the ramp 26 and into an arcuate recess which confines the arm 18 to movement through an angle of 35 degrees, each side of a plane at right angles to the wall on which the hose is mounted. A valve 16 controls the supply of water to the hose which is fed through the hollow spindle of the reel. A rubber, plastic or the like disc 28 may be mounted on the nozzle 11.
